A ¥2,000 deposit is due after the pre-admission letter and before the JW202 is applied for; it is non-refundable if you withdraw. Hostel rooms are shared by four students. Visa extension, medical check-up and insurance are charged at the government's actual price. Food, pocket money, utilities, books and transport are not included.

Questions about this programme

Why is first-year tuition lower than later years?

The sheet gives ¥13,000 for the first year and ¥17,000 a year after. The first year also carries one-off charges — registration and processing ¥7,000 and the liaison fee ¥15,000 — so it is the dearest year overall.

What happens if I do not pass HSK?

You must pass HSK 3 before your medical studies begin and HSK 4 within three years. A student who does not risks repeating the year or being sent home, so the Chinese classes matter from day one.

Is this Shanxi or Shaanxi?

Shaanxi (陕西) — the province of Xi'an. Shanxi (山西) is a different province to the east, and Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine is a different university.
